
UN technical assistance for reconciliation and development

Resident Coordinator of United Nations and UNDP Resident Representative, Sabinay Nandi said the UN Secretary General has assured to support the President and the Government of Sri Lanka with the United Nations (UN) technical assistance and contributions to advance reconciliation and inclusive development through dialogue for a sustainable solution to the longstanding ethnic grievances.
The UN Representative said this when he called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday (15) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The President said that he will be attending the General debate of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on30th September 2015. He reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to all international obligations which it has engaged with and will continue to do so in the future.
Mr. Sabinay Nandi presented to the President several books and journals published by United Nations office in Sri Lanka including the Sri Lanka National Human Development Report 2014 published by UNDP.
