A provincial reporter trampled to death while covering an elephant rampage


A provincial correspondent was killed by a wild elephant while he was covering the elephant rampaging a village in Pasiyawewa in Minneriya early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as a 46 year old father of three children.

The reporter who received critical head injuries presumed dead after admitting to Hingurakgoda hospital.

Our provincial correspondent Rasanga Niroshana who had a narrow escape in the same deadly elephant rampage described his ordeal to our news team.

Allegations were made against the Wildlife officers as they did not turn out on time even after the incident was informed.

Our news team contacted curator of the Minneriya Wildlife Office Gamini Wickramathilaka to comment on the allegations.
