Jelly fish population in Tricomalee and Baticalo increased

The increase in Jellyfish observed in the West and South coast belts is by now seen in Trincomalee and Batticaloa coatal belts

Our reporters said that fishermen had found jellyfish in caught up in their nets yesterday and day-before-yesterday.

This is experienced more in the Manmunai, Eruvilpattu and Periyakalaaru in the Batticaloa sea cost.

Our reporter said that as a result of the increase of the catch of Jellyfish fishermen are even unwilling to go fishing.

While earlier the increase of jellyfish in the west and south sea coasts was experienced last June, about 35 persons engaged in sea bath were hospitalised as result of body contact with jellyfish.

Subsequently health officials temporarily banned bathing in the Matara and Polhena sea coasts
