
200 thousand affected by dry weather conditions

The Disaster Management Centre states that due to adverse weather conditions 200 thousand persons belonging to 60 thousand families in 5 districts have been affected.
Deputy media director of the centre Sarath Lal Kumara stated that steps have been taken to provide drinking water to the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Due to the convergence of wind flows the possibility for rain over the southern parts of the country and over the sea areas off the southern coast is very high.
Duty meteorologist H D Darmapriya stated that there is a risk of heavy rainfalls and strong winds during showers.
