Special circular on Uva elections from elections commissioner to government officials

A special circular has been issued by the elections commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya regarding the Uva provincial council elections.
The circular has been issued to all ministry secretaries, district secretaries, department heads, and chairmen of government corporations as well as chairmen of constitutional councils.
The circular which has been issued on the 16th of this month requests not to use government property including vehicles for election propaganda activities, during the Uva provincial council elections.
It further notes not to promote or transfer government officials during this time period.
Through the circular the elections commissioner has also notified to suspend ordinary transfers of all government officials including teachers and principals who will be on election duty, in the provincial council areas where elections will be held.
The suspension is in effect from the 16th of this month to 2 weeks following the conclusion of the polls.
The elections commissioner has further informed government officials to postpone any special projects due to be launched during the election time period.
