Prime Minister says UNP will win the election with a comfortable majority


Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that UNP would secure a comfortable majority to win the forthcoming general election on August 17th.

The premier stated this at a media conference held in Colombo this morning, and several leaders of United National Front also participated. 

Addressing the media, the prime minister further said that the majority of this country have already rejected former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

 Our correspondent who participated in the media conference enquired the prime minister of his opinion about the charges made by the Opposition that a federal solution would be given to the North.

Addressing the media, Minister Rajitha Senarathna said that three soldiers attached to the former President’s Security Division have been arrested in connection with the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.
