SC informs the AG to submit to court the security assessment report with regard to former Presidents security

The Supreme Court has informed the auditor general to submit to court the security assessment report the State Intelligence Division had prepared with regard to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security.
New LSSP national list candidate attorney at law Senaka Perera had earlier filed a fundamental rights petition requesting that an order be issued for reducing the security of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa who is contesting at the election.
The Supreme court gave this instruction when this petition was considered yesterday.
In this petition the former president, the election commissioner, the Minister for public peace, the Defence Secretary and the IGP have been named as respondents.
Expressing his views to media Attorney at Law Saagara Kaariyawasam who appeared for respondents said that steps with regard to security should be taken, after taking into consideration the report submitted by the Intelligence Division.
The relevant petition is scheduled to be taken up for hearing again on Friday the 14th of this month.
