Finalised UNP nomination lists given to district leaders


The UNP said that the handing over of the party’s finalized nomination lists for the upcoming general election to its district leaders began from last night.

The handing over of these lists to distant districts will take place today as well.

A UNP spokesman said that while signing of nominations by his party candidates took place yesterday, the handing over of the remaining nominations was scheduled to take place on the 13th.  

Meanwhile SLFP general secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says that signing of UPFA nominations will be completed today.

Signing of UPFA nomination lists took place at the Colombo Mahaweli Centre premises yesterday.

Accordingly more opportunity was given to UPFA candidates from areas outside Colombo for signing the nominations.

Several candidates who received nominations for the general election this time expressed their views to media after inking the nominations.

Former Minister Mahinda Samarasingha expressing his views on this occasion said that  

Former Minister Johnston Fernando also came for signing his nomination paper from the Kurunegala District yesterday.

Expressing his views to media subsequently, the former minister said that the UPFA would receive a massive victory from the Kurunegala district.

Former MP R. Duminda Silva also visited the Mahaweli Centre premises yesterday where the UPFA nomination list was signed.
