The Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka says that several reasons led to the sudden dissolution of Parliament.
During a media briefing at the Party’s Head Office in Battaramulla, the Minister stated that the suppression of the COPE Report was one of the major reasons. He stressed that the main problem was the suppression of the COPE Report on Bonds. There are initial signs of corruption and an investigation should be conducted in to the matter.
Information has been received that the report on war crimes is scheduled to be released by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on the 21st of August. If someone has committed crimes covering behind the war, such people have to be prosecuted but charges cannot be leveled for ending terrorism. He said that such accusations should be faced as a nation but manipulating local politics according to the wishes of foreign countries is a major error.
