It was stated in a document tabled in parliament yesterday that security sources have identified that there is threat from extremists and radicals to the life of current president Maitripala Sirisena and the lives of the two former presidents.
This is mentioned in a document Public Peace and Christian Affairs Minister tabled in response to a query an MP raised for an oral reply.
It was stated in the document that 138 police personnel had been deployed for the security of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga at the time of her retirement and that this number had been currently reduced to 66.
The document said that 102 police personnel had been deployed for the security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the time of retirement and that today this number had been increased to 105.
