Saudi Arabia invites President for a visit at the earliest opportunity


The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Jammaz who paid a farewell call on President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday (17), extended an invitation on behalf of the Saudi Government to the President to visit Saudi Arabia.

The outgoing Ambassador assured fullest continuous support to Sri Lanka. Praising the Government’s programmes he pledged support to Sri Lanka in international fora.

President Maithripala Sirisena appreciated the significant contribution made by the Ambassador for the development of mutual understanding and economic cooperation between the two countries during his tenure.

The President also recalled the assistance given to Sri Lanka by the Saudi Government for the development programmes in the country over the years. He made a special mention about the assistance given for an Irrigation Project in Plonnaruwa after a visit by a senior member of the Saudi royal family to the area.
