Sri Lanka marks World Environment Day today


Sri Lanka will mark 'World Environment Day 2015' with a National Ceremony  at Watadageya historical site in Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa  today at 9.00 a.m. under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

This year, Sri Lanka's national theme for World Environment Day is 'Sustainable use protects the earth'.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in a message stated that it is a great tragedy that we do not consider the importance of protecting the environment which has been created by mother nature for the survival of  man, animals and trees.

 The Premier also stated that we should teach our young, never to forget the beautiful world that gave them life.
