He stated that this was to contest at the Uva Provincial Council elections.
Harin Fernando was elected to Parliament through the previous general election from the Badulla district.
However, speaking at an event that was held in Kandy yesterday, Wayamba Province Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that although UNP MP Harin Fernando comes forward as a Chief Ministerial candidate, he could only become the Opposition Leader of the Uva Provincial Council.
