2 killed in an earth slip on a house in Passara

2 were killed yesterday when an earth mound collapsed on a house in Passara, Bibilegama area.
Police stated that a 54 year old woman and an 8 month old infant were killed due to the tragic accident and the mother of the boy who was injured was admitted to the passara hospital.
Meanwhile, 7 sluice gates of the Anuradapura – Rajanganaya reservoir have been opened due to incessant showers.
The met department states that under the influence of Inter Tropical Convergence Zone the possibility for rain and lightning activities over the country still persists.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island during the afternoon and night.
Heavy rain falls more than 100 mili meters are also expected at some places.
Duty Meteorologist Buddika Bandurathna requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
