Freedom, peace and law has been established in the country; President


President Maithripala Sirisena says that democratic freedom, peace at the workplace and legal rights to organize and act have been established in the country by now.

The President in his May Day message stated that unity was a must to safeguard the victories achieved through sacrifices.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in his May Day message stated that a political environment where we have freedom, has been established at the end of a massive social struggle against dictatorial rule.

The Prime Minister also stated that we must line-up to build our country, through a sustainable development process and to make the lives of our people prosperous.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his message in view of the May Day stated that with the end of the 30 year war the rights of the people which had been limited were restored not only in the North and East but in the entire country.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala De Silva stated that attention should be paid to uplift the living standards of people in the estate areas and those engaged in farming.
