Mathews' rise the highlight of last two years' - De Zoysa

Michael De Zoysa who took up the role of manager of the Sri Lanka cricket team in February 2013, and completed his term at the end of the 2015 World Cup says that it was marvellous to see a young man like Angelo Mathews really filling the shoes he was intended to fill.

He also added that with Mahela Jayawardene not there and once Sangakkara goes, he will have to do it on his own, and then we will really see what he is really made of.

He also went on to say that Mathews can probably surpass Sachin Tendulkar's number of Test centuries if he keeps going, since he is already at no. 2.

He concluded by saying that Sri Lanka's series against Pakistan, which is scheduled for June would be a time for the younger players to step up.
