The Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa informed parliament today, that the appropriate method to obtain a statement from a MP, or hold an investigation against a MP, is to educate the speaker about such action beforehand.
He also said that, if the Bribery Commission wants to obtain such a statement, that statement should be obtained without disturbing parliamentary affairs.
Opposition MPs who objected the summoning of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Bribery Commission, requested the Speaker to declare his decision over the issue yesterday.
In response to the opposition MPs request, speaker Chamal Rajapaksa informed his decision today.
