Bribery commission director general to Parliament


The sit-in protest staged by a group of opposition MPs in the well of the house against the notice on former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to report to the Bribery Commission on April 24th is still continuing.

Heated arguments were exchanged in parliament over this matter yesterday, and a group of Opposition MPs staged this protest as speaker Chamal Rajapaksa adjourned the house.

Chairman of the Bribery Commission Jagath Balapatabadi met the speaker Chamal Rajapakse last evening.

Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakody stated that matters were discussed with regard to summoning Former President to the bribery commission and the activities of the commission.

Deputy Speaker said Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa will make a special statement in Parliament today.

Meanwhile a letter signed by 102 Opposition MPs has been sent to, requesting him to intervene to settle this dispute
