Tense situation in parliament over the summons of former president to Bribery Commission


MPs from the government as well as the opposition exchanged heated arguments in parliament today over the summons of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa before the Bribery Commission on April 24th.

Former Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathna as well as the current Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed their views over the matter.

As a tense situation erupted in house, the speaker informed to move the adjourning debate.

Our correspondent stated that a group of opposition MPs walked upto the well of the house and sat on the floor as the leader of the house moved the adjourning debate.

However the speaker has adjourned the parliament sittings until tomorrow.
