(Update)- Qatar Emir arrives

The Emir of Qatar Tamimi bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Sri Lanka a short while ago for a short visit. He was welcomed by Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Aviation Services Minister Reginald Cooray. He is to leave the country in the evening, today.

A special traffic plan will also be executed today in view of the Emir’s visit from the Colombo entrance of the Katunayake - Colombo Expressway, Baseline Road, Borella-Orugodawatta, Horton Place, liberty Roundabout, Galle Road from Kollupitiya to Galle Face Green.

Qatar Emir to visit Sri Lanka today

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka today (24) as part of his Asian tour, the Qatari Embassy in Colombo stated.
 
"During his visit to Sri Lanka, Memoranda of Understanding covering youth development activities, development of sports as well as exchange of information, communications and information technology will be signed between Sri Lanka and Qatar," the Embassy said in a statement.
 
The Emir's Asian visit, which runs from April 23-25, includes trips to Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India.
 
During his tour, the Emir is expected to hold talks with leaders and senior officials from these countries over ways to enhance cooperation, strengthen ties and solve issues of common concern.
