The UNP says that the SLFP has already been halved.
Addressing a meeting held at Galagedara yesterday, Plantation Minister Lakshman Kiriella said the tense situation erupted during the SLFP working committee meeting on Saturday was clear proof to this division.
He also said that UNP would remain in power for another 15 years.
Following the SLPF executive committee meeting held at its headquarters last Friday, the party’s all Ceylon Executive Committee was held on Saturday at the Folk Art Center in Battaramulla to inform the membership about the decisions taken during the executive committee meeting.
A tense situation erupted in the premises as a group of local government representatives protested that they were not given an opportunity to express their views.
