Central province chief Minister says he will not resign.

Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake says that he is not prepared to resign just because documents are signed and sent to him.
The Chief Minister said so while participating at a media briefing held in Pallekele in Kandy yesterday
However reports said yesterday that the majority of the provincial councilors had agreed to elect Thilina Bandara Tennakoon as Central Province Chief Minister.
Provincial Council Minister Thilina Bandara Tennakoon told our news team that 34 out of 58 provincial councilors had informed Provincial Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa about this through an affidavit.
The Central Province Council consists of 36 councilors from the UPFA, 16 from the UNP, two from the DP and two from the CWC and the SLMC.
However responding to our query Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said that he would inform the Auditor General about this today and take the final discussion based on his instructions.
However Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said at the media briefing held at Pallekele yesterday that he would not hesitate to step down from his post at any time the current President asks him to do so.
