Hareen Fernando sworn in as Uva Chief Minister

Hareen Fernando who was serving as the Opposition Leader of Uva Provincial Council thus far, took his oaths as the Chief Minister of Uva Province this afternoon.
The swearing-in of the Chief Minister took place before Uva Province Governor Nanda Mathew.
Uva PC Councillor Hareen Fernando stated that he was requested by the Governor of Uva Province to become the Chief Minister, since the opposition has claimed the majority of Uva Provincial council.
The number of Opposition members in the council increased from 12 to 17 after 5 UPFA Councillors presented their affidavits.
This resulted the number of ruling UPFA members, which comprised of 20, to be reduced to 15.
