Today marks 10 years since a massive tsunami struck Sri Lanka.
The disaster hit at 9.25 a.m. on Dec. 24, 2004, a moment that affected all those in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, National Safety Day falls today. The Ministry of Disaster Management has made arrangements to commemorate National Safety Day 2014, the year marking 10 years from the occurrence of the tsunami disaster, focusing the District of Hambantota.
Accordingly, the ministry made arrangements to observe two minutes of silence from 9.25 a.m. to 9.27 a.m. in remembrance of 30,000 individuals who lost their lives and over 5,000 persons who went missing following the tsunami disaster.
