National Bhikku Council to support common candidate

The National Bhikku Council has decided to support common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena in the forthcoming Presidential election.
This decision was taken after a meeting between the Bhikku members of the council and common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena in Colombo this morning.
National Bhikku Council General Secretary Paahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thera told our news team his organization presented a proposal comprising 15 matters to the common candidate during the meeting.
Removal of taverns running adjacent to places of worship including the temple of the tooth relic, find a pragmatic mechanism for poison free agricultural system and implement a program to prevent kidney diseases.
National Bhikku Council General Secretary Paahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thera said that his organization pledged its support to the common candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election after he agreed to the proposals of the Bhikku Council.
