JHU pledges support to Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena; Ready to be stakeholders of a National Unity government

The JHU has decided to support common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena in the forthcoming Presidential election.
The party has also agreed to abolish the executive presidency within 100 days from the date of election victory and join in a proposed national unity government to which SLFP, UNP and JVP would be parties.
JHU General Secretary Patalee Champika Ranawaka announced this decision during a media conference held in Colombo today.
Patalee Champika Ranawaka also said that an agreement was made between his party and the common candidate as common candidate Maithreepala Sirisena expects to change the election system as well after he becomes the President.
Addressing the same media briefing, Common Candidate Maithreepala Sirisena quoting Intelligence services reports said that over 32 thousand people participated in his first election campaign rally held in Polonnaruwa last Sunday.
JHU President Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Deputy General Secretary and former Provincial Council Minister Udaya Gammanpila and former Provincial Councilor Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe participated.
