SLFP general secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekera has been scheduled to appear before the Special Parliamentary Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday Terrorist attack.
The MP did not appear before the Select Committee when summoned earlier on 28th last month.
Accordingly Select Committee chairman, deputy speaker Ananda Kumarasiri had stated necessary action would be taken with regard to any MP who evaded appearing before the Select Committee.
While subsequently yesterday MP Dayasiri Jayasekera inquired from Speaker in parliament in this regard, MP Jayasekera afterwards told our news team that he had decided to appear before the Select Committee.
During a programme telecast over a private television channel, MP Dayasiri Jayasekera had expressed his views about the Easter Sunday attack.
On this occasion the MP said that he possessed information about persons who had carried out the attack as well as why it was committed.
The decision to summon the MP for the select committee was taken accordingly.
Similarly Eastern Province Senior DIG and Education Ministry Secretary too have been summoned to the select committee today.
