The soldier is not to blame for the shooting incident at the Akmeemana Manawila Upananda Vidyalaya – a statement from the Army

Initial investigations have revealed that the army soldier on duty at the Maanawila Upananda Junior school at Akmeemana in Galle arrested in connection with a shooting inside the school had not committed an offence.
The military media unit said that while various views are spread regarding the incident, a proper investigation was still being carried out regarding the incident.
Currently police and the army are conducting investigations regarding the incident separately.
Reports say that the arrested army soldier is detained in the custody of the Bussa aarmy camp.
A father of three died of gun shot injury caused by the army soldier deployed for school security when the victim tried to enter the school by force on the 4th of this month.
