Foreign media report that another 10 lawsuits have been filed against former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the United States.
8 of the plaintiffs are Tamil and the rest are Sinhalese.
The reports further state that among them is two women who filed action in a central district court of The state of California.
The plaintiffs have sought compensation for inflicting torture on them during the tenure of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as the former defence secretary.
International Trust and Justice Project and Hausfeld International Law Firm which filed the cases stated that the two institutions filed action in America as Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is a US citizen.
Earlier, another case was filed against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in a court in the United States on April 29th.
Meanwhile, addressing a media conference held in Colombo, Sinhala Ravaya chairman Akmeemana Dayarathana Thera said that the Tamil Diaspora has taken these actions to prevent Gotabhaya Rajapaksa contesting the forthcoming presidential election.
