Maithripala Sirisena pays homage to Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

Common Opposition Candiate Maithripala Sirisena visited the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy today. As reported subsequent to religious observances, Maithripala sirisena called on the Chief Prelate of the Asigiri Sect Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha thera.
Thereafter, Maithripala Sirisena called on the Anunayaka of the Malwathu sect Venerable Niyangoda Vijithasiri thera.
Addressing the media, Maithripala Sirisena expressed these views.
"I was able to meet with the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter and I received his blessings. The Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter is currently abroad but I was able to meet with the Anunayake. I received his blessings too. As a Sinhalese Buddhist, upon taking up this position, I have resolved to strengthen reconciliation among the Sinhalese Buddhist, Muslim and Tamil people and also to ensure the freedom of faith and promote reconciliation between religions..."
