30 fishermen who were under Indian custody released


Indian officials have decided to release 30 Sri Lankan fishermen who have been apprehended in India.

The department of fisheries search operations assistant director Padmapriya Tissera noted that the decision was taken in parallel to the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sri Lanka.

The fishermen had been arrested for violating the Indian maritime border on several occasions and he noted that the fishermen will be repatriated to the country in the next few days.
