The Attorney General’s Department annual report to be presented to parliament reveals that there are over 17 thousand 600 unsettled cases in connection with child abuse has been filed up in the department.
161 convicts of child abuse were imprisoned in 2017 and, it was the least amount of cases reported after 2015.
Among these cases are child sexual abuse, using children for begging and drug peddling.
A senior officer of the Department stated despite measures have been taken to settle these cases, there are several other reasons which cause the delay to settle them.
He said one of the major issues is incomplete details to file action.
Most of the victims are under the age of 16 and, the majority is reluctant to testify before courts.
