Engineers’ Four-hour power cut proposal to be submitted to authorities today; No information about power cuts, says utilities commission.

Reports say that the Electricity Board is scheduled to officially announce today regarding the daily island-wide four-hour power cut.
However Public Utilities Commission said that it had so far not been informed how the power cut would take place.
Electricity engineer’s union stated yeaterday that due to the high demand for electricity and the current dry weather condition prevailing in the country there will be a 4 hour power cut island wide.
Accordingly there will be a 3 hour power cut during day time and 1 hour power cut in the night.
Power cuts will take place during one of the following time periods.
8.30 AM to 11.30 AM, 11.30 AM to 2.30 PM, 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM, 6 PM to 7 PM , 7 PM to 8 PM. 8 PM to 9 PM or 9 PM to 10 PM
However there will be no power cuts on Sundays.
On Saturdays power cuts will take place from 8.30 AM to 10.45 AM, 10.45 AM to 1 PM, I PM to 3.15 PM, 3.15 PM to 5.30 PM.
However, responding to a query by our news team Public Utilities Commission’s Institutions and Communication Division Director Jayanath Herath said that the commission had so far not been informed about the power cut.
