Moratumulla gold robbers arrested with the largest stock of gold


Police yesterday arrested two suspects in connection with the gold robbery worth over 50 million rupees from a private pawning institution in Moratumulla area.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said nine kilograms of stolen gold jewelry were found in Weligama and Dikwella area.

During the questioning, suspects revealed part of the jewelry were pawned while the balance was melted.

The gold pawning institution of Moratumulla was stormed and robbed 11 kilograms of gold jewelry on the 25th of May this year.
