Discussions takes place regarding the purchase of MI - 17 Helicopters from Russia

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Dayan Jayatilleka told Russian state news agency, Sputnik, that Sri Lanka is conducting negotiations with Russia to purchase Mi-17 helicopters, which will be used for a UN peacekeeping mission.
The ambassador recalled that during a Sri Lankan senior defence officials' visit to Moscow in early September 2018 discussions on the purchase of Mi-17s were on the agenda .
While negotiations are underway, a specific document has not yet been signed.
In addition , the number of helicopters to be purchased has not been made known.
