'Perfect ending to a lifetime filled with love'

A couple who had been together for 70 years died within just 10 minutes of each other.

Stephen Cresswell believes his uncle and aunt Harry and Mavis Stevenson, who died within minutes of each other, had the "perfect ending" to their life filled with love.

The couple lived at St Werburgh's House care home in Spondon, Derby where they had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Mr Cresswell knew his aunt, aged 89, had been poorly, but had not expected his 88-year-old uncle "to go" too.

He said: "I had seen them the day before and I knew Mavis had less time than Harry.

“Harry was still quite medically strong. When he died I was quite shocked.

“They would not have wanted to live without each other, so I think it was the perfect ending."
