Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Angelo Mathews speaking to the media after the 3rd One Day International once again looked disappointed after losing the series in Hyderabad yesterday.

Mathews praised Tilakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardena for their efforts with the bat.

The Lankan skipper also added that its challenging to play in India “It is a challenging tour for us, not many teams have won against India in India. But we just want to play our brand of cricket, which we haven’t played in the past three games. We need to concentrate on that and stop worrying of winning and losing. I think if we do that we will go into the world cup high and confident.”

Angelo Mathews was worried of youngsters not performing and said “Going into the world cup we need our top guns to fire and they are  the guys who have been performing for the past couple of years, our youngsters need to step up. They need to grab opportunities, we can’t keep changing them. The younger guys need to give their 100 % as we all can see how our seniors keep performing and are hungry for runs.

“We haven’t played well and we have not batted well. We need to take a leaf out of India’s book the way they bat. They are aggressive and look positive. We need to be aggressive and in the same time control it as well.” Mathews admitted.

Also talking of Kumar Sangakkara’s return to the Island, the skipper said that “we decided few days ago that Sanga will be going back. He has been rested . We need to give opportunities to Chandimal and Thirimanne who are coming back, so we are experimenting few things to get our best team to the world cup.”
