Namal Kumara faces a 7 hour interrogation by the CID

Anti-corruption Task Force Operations Director Namal Kumara was questioned yesterday for almost 7 hours regarding disclosures made about the plots to have the President and former Defence Secretary assassinated .
Director Kumara was presented to the Government Analyst on order to obtain a voice recording , after permission had been granted by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne following a request submitted by the CID .
Meanwhile reports state that Namal Kumara, had previously made strenuous efforts to have the former defence secretary participate at a function that was to be held at a Buddhist Temple in Warakaapola.
He had extended the invitation through a local politician.
the local politician shared with a MP representing the Joint Opposition in Kegalle, that the invitataion had been extended, however the MP did not respond positively.
Namal Kumara who had made a strong appeal regarding this to the local politician on numerous occassions, finally said that if his request denied , he would invite Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to the function instead.
It is also revealed that the invitation was ade approximately three and a half months ago.
Meanwhile, the Inidian High Commission says that the Indian national who had revealed that a conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and members of his family had been initiated from India, is a person suffering from a mental illness.
Responding to a query from our news team made, a spokeperson from the Indian High Commission said that an investigation has been launched as reports indicate that there is a threat to the lives of Sri Lankan State leaders,
The spokesman also said that according to the investigation it had been revealed that the Indian national subjected to the allegation had been suffering from a mental illness since 2000.
Although the CID had informed court of this, participating at a media briefing held at Wadduwa police yesterday, the media spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said that no information had emanated from the Indian national regarding an assassination conspiracy.
