Two Korean Navy vessels to visit Colombo port


The Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) – Cruise Training Task Group will be calling on the Colombo Port for a three day Port visit from 11 to 13 November 2014.
Two Navy Vessels Choi Young (DDH-981) and Cheonji (AOE-57) will be arriving to the Colombo Port under the command of Rear Admiral Chun Jung-Soo. The 2014 ROK Cruise Training Task Group is currently deployed on a 96 day voyage visiting ports in 12 countries. Sri Lanka is the 6th country visited by the Group since their first visit to Guam, as reported by the Government Information Department.
Approximately 650 ROK naval personnel, including 140 midshipmen from the ROK Naval Academy’s 69th class are embarked on the two ships Choi Young and Cheonji. The voyage provides the trainees with hands-on experience before they become commissioned military officers.
