19000 people in 7 districts hit by inclement weather

19 thousand persons belonging to 4966 families were affected due to inclement weather condition in the country.
At the same time, Building Research Institute has extended the prevailing landslide warnings on Kegalle, Ratnapura, Matale, Badulla, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts for the next 24 hours.
The meteorology department states that Showers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Thundershowers will develop at a several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or evening.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the deep and shallow sea areas off the Eastern and Southern coasts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other sea areas around the island, too.
The deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee and Pottuvil may be rough at times as winds can strengthen up to 50 to 60 kilo meters per hour.
Duty Meteorologist Dharshana Premathilaka requests the General public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning.
