Yet another problem crops up at Sigiriya


Seegiriya hotel owners say that due to the serious issue of crime around Seegiriya Cultural Triangle tourist resorts, there is a potential danger that the tourism industry might collapse.

Chairman of the Cultural Triangle Hotel Association Saliya Dayananda told our news team that in the past three months alone close to 12 hotels had been burgled.

overseas tourists at the hotels had also been attacked and had money and personal items stolen.

The chairman went on to state that although  Seegiriya and Dambulla Police have been carrying out investigations to have the suspects arrested, the facilities required to see this take place have not been made available.

A senior officer at Sigiriya police said that the suspects responsible for the burgularies have been identified and authorities are working towards seeing them arrested.
