Signs of Sarath Fonseka's name being removed from voters list today


Reliable sources said that Democratic Party leader Sarath Fonseka’s name is scheduled to be deleted from the 2014 voters’ list today.

On this occasion the Election Commissioner said that removal of unsuitable persons and insertion of suitable persons in the 2014 voters’ list should be done before 31st October.

The Election Commissioner said that a special discussion would be held today with regard to this removal.

The Election Commissioner said that in this regard court orders and announcements made by the Prisons Department would be considered.

In this country if a person is detained in prison for more than two years, he loses his voting right for seven years.

Reports say that DP leader Sarath Fonseka’s name will be deleted on this basis.
