Yala National Park opens to the public with new rules


The Yala National Park which was closed earliar due to the severe drought which prevailed for a couple of months will reopen to the public on Thursday.

Director General of Wildlife, H.D. Ratnayaka stated that it will only be opened for a period of six hours per day.

He also added that the park will be opened to the public from 6 a.m. until noon, through out the week.

The head of the Wildlife Department added that visitors who enter the park’s premises must leave before noon.

As a result water, levels remained low owing to the poor rainfall and measures are still being taken to provide water to animals through water bowsers.
