Special programme to minimize train accidents to be launched


A special programme aiming to reduce train accidents will be launched today (Mar. 12).
Notice boards will be fixed nearby railway crossings and rail tracks under this programme to improve awareness among the masses.
The programme will be launched in Navinna, Maharagama by National Council for Road Safety.
They said so far this year, 35 persons have died in train accidents and 24 of them were those who attempted to take selfies.
The data showed that in 2017 955 persons had died in train accidents.
