Cyclone Hudhud Batters Andhra Pradesh


The state's Disaster Management Department states that nearly 1,35,000 persons have been evacuated in Andhra Pradesh and phone lines in Vizag are still not working.

In Odisha, 2,33,271 people have been evacuated and shifted to 2,029 shelters.

According to the Indian Navy negligible rain and calm winds can be seen in Visakhapatnam. Large number of trees have been uprooted and power supply cables have snapped. The runway at Visakhapatnam airport is being cleared to resume flight operations.

Cyclone Hudhud has turned into a deep depression and lies over Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. Wind speeds can be seen at a range of 50-70 kmph.
