'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Could Open With $200 Million In North America

Star Wars: The Last Jedi' is already looking like it could be a major success in North America, with tracking services making an early prediction that the film will take in around 200 million dollars across its opening weekend, from December 15th to 17th.

That would be slightly lower that the record set by 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' which took in 248 million dollars across 4,134 movie theatres, but would still be considered a box office smash.

The 200 million dollars figure would also make the film the biggest debut of the year, beating the current movie at the top of that list: Disney's live-action adaptation of their classic 'Beauty and the Beast'.
