Government sources say that it is very likely that the dissolution of the Uva Provincial Council takes place after the end of the Kataragama Esala Perahera festival this time.
Furtherthe sources reveal that accordingly the Uva provincial council will most probably be dissolved after 12th this month.
Reports say that this decision has been taken as it is not proper to dissolve the provincial council during an ongoing religious festival.
The Kataragama full moon Esala Perahera festival this time is scheduled to end on the Esala full moon Poya day that falls on 12th this month.
While the last Grand Perahera street procession takes place on 12th night, the Kataragama Esala Perahera Feast will end with the water-cutting ceremony carried out at the Manik river on the 13th.
The Government sources had earlier stated that the Uva provincial council was to be dissolved on July 3rd or 5th.
The official tenure of the Uva Provincial Council is scheduled to end this September.
Thirty-four councilors, including two bonus councilors will represent the Uva provincial council.
