US swimmer Michael Phelps 'arrested for drunk driving'


US Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Phelps was charged with driving under the influence, excessive speed, and crossing double lane lines, and was later released.

Phelps, was also arrested in 2004 on DUI charges.

In a plea agreement, he was placed on 18 months' probation.

 The most decorated Olympian ever, with 22 medals, later apologised on Twitter.
