President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka has set an example to other nations by meeting most of its responsibilities towards the country’s child population.
In a message to mark International Children’s Day, the President stated that he is pleased to send the message on the occasion of International Children’s Day marked this year under the theme ‘Protect us with love’.
Among the steps taken for the betterment of our children is making our country a safe and secure place for them.
President said in crucial areas such as education, health and nutrition, the government has made rapid strides better than in any other era in this country.
The greatest success has been in extending these facilities to rural areas too, without limiting them to urban areas.
Sri Lanka will mark World Children's Day with a national event at the Maharagama Youth Centre today under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
