Investigations on a complaint which states Rs 202m given to LTTE during Trinity College principal Gilbert’s tenure.

The CID has initiated investigations on allegations that 202 million rupees from Trinity College funds were given to the LTTE during the tenure of former principal Rod Gilbert.
Kandy Additional Magistrate Srinith Wijesekera ordered CID to properly investigate the complaint and the audit report, submitted by an old Trinitian Nishantha Priyalal Alwis.
In his complaint, Nishantha Priyala stated that the said sum of money had been donated to the LTTE during the tenure of former principal Rod Gilbert.
The complainant also stated Rod Gilbert was deported after his connection with the LTTE was proved before the court.
He stated that a teacher and 11 students attached to Kandy Trinity College were arrested on suspicion of their connection with the LTTE.
Nishantha Priyalal stated in his complaint that Trinity College is located near the President’s House in Kandy, and a redundant building was put up in the school premises close to the President house during the period of 2005 to 2006.
The case will be taken up for hearing again on May 7th, 2015.
